State board benefits Chelan County river restoration and fish habitat

The Washington State Salmon Recovery Funding Board, an arm of the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, awarded $50.3 million in grants for 145 projects across the state to improve habitat for salmon, steelhead and bull trout.


  • $675,000 to the Chelan County Natural Resources Department to design and perform restoration work on Nason Creek, Peshastin Creek, the lower Chiwawa River and the White River floodplain,


  • $272,000 for planting in the Entiiat River floodplain,


  • $205,000 for conservation measures on the Entiat River,


  • $125,000 to assess Colokum Creek, a tributary of the Columbia River, downstream from Wenatchee.
