A Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) maintenance crew will be performing a spring check-up on the Knapps Hill tunnel along highway 97A.

Flagger-controlled traffic will create travel delays on Monday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • Drivers on US 97A will encounter delays at this location throughout the day.

  • Those traveling between Wenatchee and Chelan may consider taking highway 97.

  • Those detouring on Navarre Coulee Rd. due to the slide on South Lakeshore Road should add additional time to their travel plans for Monday.

The Icicle River corridor will undergo repairs to Road 7600 beginning Monday.

Road repair and rockfall mitigation work will be taking place along the section of the road from about the Snow Lakes Trailhead up to Eightmile Campground, southwest of Leavenworth.

The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest says the weekday closure will complicate travel to and from several trailheads, campgrounds, and private property in the Icicle River corridor.

The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is working with the Federal Highways Administration on the project.

Construction will resume Monday on the Upper Pearl Hill Bridge replacement project, causing  a temporary closure of the bridge just outside of Bridgeport.

The span sustained significant structural damage during the Cold Springs Canyon/Pearl Hill Fire in 2020, resulting in weight restrictions that have remained in place for over four years.

Douglas County road crews say the replacement project aims to improve safety for motorists traveling along Pearl Hill Road and will restore access for commercial farming vehicles that have been unable to use the route since the restrictions were implemented.

The closure is expected to last through late May.

Progress is being made on clearing the North Cascades Highway for a spring reopening but the State Department of Transportation says work has slowed due to the risk of avalanche.

Snow melt-off and snow loads directly above the work zone continue to be a concern.

Road crews have already cleared the east side of highway 20,  just down the hill from the Washington Pass summit.

Clearing the highway typically takes about six weeks to complete, which puts the highway on track for a late-April opening.

The North Cascades Highway closed for the winter on Nov. 15, 2024.
