Chelan County Sheriff's deputies arrest man in alleged drive-by shooting on highway 2

A reported drive-by shooting on highway 2, and Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies pull over the suspect on Chumstick highway.

Inside the Jeep driven by Daniel Stephens of East Wenatchee deputies found two 20-gauge shotgun shells and four 9 millimeter unfired bullets that officers located in Stephens' pant pocket.

Sheriff’s Chief Ryan Moody says deputies joined state  troopers Wednesday afternoon, who had received a report of a driver who had pulled alongside another driver on highway 2, and pointed a handgun at the victim and his passenger.

Stephens is alleged to have then pulled in front of the victim’s car and fired several shots into the air, pointed the gun again at the victim and fired as many as two more rounds from his gun.

Stephens’ Jeep was impounded while detectives obtained a search warrant.  The shooter was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center, charged with drive-by shooting.

A motive behind the shootings may be determined by the ongoing investigation.
