The City of East Wenatchee is proud to announce the launch of their new Pre-Approved ADU Program and accompanying website, designed to make the process of building ADUs more accessible for residents. The Cities of East Wenatchee and Wenatchee have worked together to develop a Pre-Approved Plan Program with 15 pre-approved ADU designs for dwellings ranging from 400 square feet to 1,200 square feet. This initiative aims to promote affordable housing options and provide homeowners with shorter review time and a reduced permit fee.

The newly released pre-approved ADU plans offer a streamlined process for East Wenatchee residents that are fully compliant with local regulations, saving property owners time and costs related to designing and permitting. The new ADU website also includes resources and guidance on selecting a pre-approved design, as well as step-by-step information on the building process.

“We’re excited to provide our community with tools to make it easier to create affordable, flexible housing options,” said Curtis Lillquist, Community Development Director. “These pre-approved ADU plans help reduce barriers for homeowners who want to add an ADU, whether to accommodate family members, provide rental housing, or create extra space for personal needs.”

ADUs, often referred to as backyard cottages or in-law units, can be a valuable option for families looking to expand living space or for homeowners interested in rental opportunities. By offering pre-approved plans, the City of East Wenatchee is taking a proactive step to address housing challenges while preserving the character and integrity of local neighborhoods.

For further information, residents are encouraged to visit the City of East Wenatchee’s website at www.eastwenatcheewa.gov, where they can explore the ADU designs, learn about the permit process, and find answers to frequently asked questions.
