Travelers in and out of the Chelan and Wenatchee Valleys are advised of heavy snow forecast in the Cascades and foothills, prompting the Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) to issue an avalanche warning Wednesday night.
According to NWAC, the snow, winds, and snow transitioning to rain at lower elevations is creating a risk of avalanches along Stevens and Snoqualmie passes, Mt. Hood, and the west slopes of the Cascades in Washington.
Travel along the passes is not recommended as there is high risk of avalanches.
The warning is in place until 6 p.m. Thursday.
