A new school year starts in the Chelan Valley and Wenatchee Valley this week

Schools open beginning Monday in Pateros, Tuesday in Chelan, Wednesday in Wenatchee and Thursday in Manson.

"We're just thrilled to get the new year started," said Manson School District Superintendent Tabatha Mires. "I love the fact that every year it's a brand new start and you have these huge hopes and dreams as a kid, a teacher and superintendent. You're worried about having the perfect lesson plan on day one and every single thing being perfect, but ultimately, kids walk through the door and it's about the kids."

Manson School hosts a student-parent-community BBQ Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m.

In Chelan, Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Sargeant Field, you're invited to "Meet the Goats" and the  2024-25 athletes and coaches.

"Last year we offered 300 free hot dogs and we sold out in about 30 minutes," Lake Chelan School District Athletic Director Evan Reister said. "We're going to get the athletes involved this year. They're going to run some stations where we're playing soccer together, or volleyball, whatever it is we're going to get something going."

"This is a community thing, not just for student athletes, not just for students, we want everybody," Reister added. "We want the old Goats, we want the future Goats, we want businesses to come out."

Alta Lake is the location for the Goats Booster Club 18th annual golf tournament, September 15th. www.chelanathletics.com.
