[7/21/16] Oops- DOT Miscommunication Directs Motorists Into Delays
A last minute change in construction plans has the Washington State Department of Transportation apologizing for yesterday’s unannounced closure of US 97A.
All week DOT has been telling motorists to use 97A as an alternate route for US 97 while work was being performed south of Beebe Bridge.
That changed yesterday when Central Washington Asphalt crews relocated to 97A to fix a dip in the pavement they had repaired earlier this month 3 miles south of Entiat.
WSDOT Communications Director, Jeff Adamson, issued this release late yesterday afternoon:
“We apologize for the closures at the entrance to Rocky Reach Dam while four lanes there were overlaid with asphalt, inconveniencing powerhouse visitors and employees. However, more of those pre-level asphalt patches will be installed Thursday between Wenatchee and Entiat, so expect flaggers and 20 minute delays on US 97A, with no work at all on US 97- on the Douglas County side.
Construction is not allowed Friday-Saturday-Sunday, so your weekend travel should not be affected regardless of which side of the river you choose.”
US 97 in Douglas County is your preferred alternate route all day today, Thursday, July 21st.
