The Manson Lady Trojans lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night to the Fillies of Bridgeport. Manson dominated possession and attack for most of the game but late in the first half Bridgeport scored off a nice corner kick. Miriam Acosta attempted to grab the ball before it dropped to the feet of the Bridgeport forward who just got it across the line with her thigh! The second half started with a barrage of pressure on the Bridgeport goal but nothing to show for it. Then, with about 20 minutes left in the game the ball fell to Veronica Lulo who kicked it toward the goal with her left foot. The Bridgeport goalkeeper got a hand to it but it bounced off the post and over the line for a goal. The last twenty minutes were, once again, dominated by Manson. Wave after wave of attack, particularly down the right hand side with Nadia Verdusco and Nadia Tejada, continued. Manson nearly took the lead when Nadia Tejada played a dangerous cross into the middle where it was nearly kicked in by Jasmine Valdovinos at the far post. Then, in heartbreaking fashion and against the run of play, Bridgeport took the ball down the right on a counter-attack. A through-ball was not dealt with by the Manson defense and goalkeeper and the ball was pushed out wide to a Bridgeport forward who had nothing between her and the goal. She scored the goal with about two minutes to go. Manson continued to press on for an equalizer, however, coming extremely close with a powerful shot from Nadia Tejada, only to be saved by the Bridgeport goalkeeper. In the end it was a painful loss for the valiant Lady Trojans who left everything on the field as they searched for that elusive victory.
