IN SOCCER:

The Manson Lady Trojans played in a physical and competitive game against the Bears from Brewster on Thursday night.  Brewster, a team who have scored eleven goals on Lake Roosevelt and six on Chelan found the Lady Trojans difficult to break down.  It was not until the 35th minute of the first half that they broke the deadlock after a cross and shot.  The strong defensive performance was led by senior goalkeeper Miriam Acosta who ended the night with 30 saves including two that were one-on-ones with the attacking player.  The intensity, discipline and hustle of the back four, Deisy Leyva, Mirian Leyva, Mira Leyva and Alondra Chavez, kept Manson in the game until one more goal came late on for Brewster.  In the end, a valiant effort by the Lady Trojans who can hang their heads high after a tough fight with one of the league’s strongest teams.
