[10/3/16] Prescribed Burns On Lake Chelan and Near Ardenvoir Today

Prescribed Fire: There are three #prescribedfire burns totaling 202 acres planned today.

1. 25 Mile: 80 acres across Lake Chelan from Manson, WA and northwest of Chelan, WA. Smoke is anticipated to disperse to the N throughout the day and will be highly visible from the Manson area.

2. Lower Tyee: 40 acres 3-7 miles NW of Ardenvoir, WA. Smoke is anticipated to disperse to the NE throughout the day.

3. Liberty: 82 acres 17 miles NE of Cle Elum, WA. Smoke is anticipated to disperse to the SE throughout the day and may be highly visible from HWY 97 in the area.

The 25 Mile and Liberty burns are being conducted collaboratively as a part of the Forest Resiliency Burning Pilot Project passed by the Washington State Legislature in the spring of 2016. For more information on the Pilot visit: www.putfiretowork.org

After many years of fire exclusion, an ecosystem that needs periodic fire becomes unhealthy.
