Holliday Earns 2nd Place Finish 6/9/2014

On Saturday Chelan’s Haley Holliday finished 2nd in the Washington State High School girls Decathlon meet Lake Stevens High School. This is the 43rd annual meet of the boys decathlon and the 13 year for the girls decathlon.

Haley Holliday is the first girl from Chelan to compete in this competition which includes 10 events over two days. The 10 events are the 100m dash, discus, pole vault, javelin and 400m dash on the first day. The second day starts with the 100m high hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and to finish the competition the competitors run the 1500m run.

Haley’s marks were as follows:

1st Day marks time-distance Points

100m dash 14.39 seconds 544

Discus 70’-11” PR 307

Pole Vault 7’-0325” PR 289

Javelin 61’-01” PR 263

400m dash 1:06.24 470

2nd Day marks

1500m run 6:03.91 PR 455

Total points for the 2 day competition 429

Incredible results considering Haley had only worked on the discus, shot put, javelin, 1500 and pole vault for a week prior to the competition.

The future is bright for Haley in track and field multi event competitions if she chooses to follow that path.
