Bridgeport Mayor Voted Out of Office 6/4/2014

The effort to recall the Mayor of Bridgeport begun by Michael Knox in January of 2014 culminated in a recall election on 3 June 2014.

The preliminary vote count tabulated by Douglas County Elections Officials show 111 voters who voted "yes" to recall Mayor and 91 voters who voted "no".

A number of ballots which had been dropped into an official ballot box at the entrance to the Bridgeport City Hall were collected by Douglas County Elections officials at 8PM on the 3rd and will have to be tabulated later this week.

A new and possibly final vote count will be released by the Douglas County Elections office on Monday the 9th of June.  The final results will be certified by the Elections Commission on the 17th of June.  I

If the results are upheld and the Mayor is removed from office, the Mayor Pro Tem, Janet Conklin, will become the Interim Mayor until the city council, by state law, appoints a replacement mayor.
