Chelan-County PUD has declared emergency on the repairs to the dam. While this may sound extreme, the idea is to expedite the repairs to the dam rather than wait to put them out for bid. Since the initial symptoms of damage more have been discovered when crews were disassembling the unit including cracks in other components. If the cracks had splintered during operation it could have damaged other equipment and flooded the powerhouse.

PUD has assured the public that even though the cost for repairs is substantial, the cost of power for the residents of Chelan-County will not increase. The full repairs are slotted to be finished by late 2017. The temporary repairs to the three malfunctioning units should come as early as March 2014.
