Lightning Starts Second Fire On Lake Chelan 7/8/2013

A lightning storm passed through the Chelan Valley Sunday, July 7th igniting one fire on the Chelan Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

Local Forest Service firefighters are responding to the Twin Harbor fire reported across Lake Chelan from Prince Creek campground about 35 miles up lake from the city of Chelan.

The fire is estimated at 10 acres burning in the old burn area from the Deep Harbor fire of 2004. Steep and rocky terrain makes access for firefighters poor however helicopters are being utilized to deliver water for suppression efforts and a hotshot crew is on scene.

The smoke from the fire is visible from 25 Mile State Park
