25 Mile Fire Estimated At 450-Acres 7/5/2013

Late Thursday afternoon, local firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and the Washington Department of Natural Resources responded to a wildfire reported north of Manson, Washington across Lake Chelan from 25-Mile State Park.

Named from where the fire was first reported, the 25-Mile Fire ignited near the Dutch Harbor area on private property.   Now estimated at 450 acres, the fire is burning on both private and Forest Service land, moving down lake towards the Mitchell Creek drainage.
A Washington Department of Natural Resources Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered and will arrive July 5th to manage the fire suppression efforts.
Currently, fire personnel suppressing the fire include a 20-person fire crew and two helicopters. Forest Service managers have closed Mitchell Creek campground as a precautionary measure.
