Manson Plans Live Fire Training This Week 5/14/2013
Manson’s all-volunteer fire department will be participating in live fire training starting this week at an acquired structure near Greens Landing in Manson.
Live Fire Training has become mandatory in the state of Washington , in order to provide firefighters with continued hands-on training, particularly live-fire training, allowing personnel an opportunity to remain educated in fire behavior as well as firefighting techniques.
Manson Fire Chief, Arnold Baker, says the home that will be used for the live fire training was made available to the fire department by Manson residents, Ed and Layne Eckberg, who recently built a new home nearby.
This particular structure, is not the typical home made of wood and siding, however, and may pose some problems during the ignition portion of the training.
Baker adds that residents will likely be impacted, simply because a structure will be on fire.
Again, the first round of the live fire training is set to take place this week- if weather conditions become favorable.
