Sheriff Looks To Stop Nuisance Calls 5/8/2013
The ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Office is in the preliminary stages of drafting an ordinance that would make nuisance calls to 911 an offense that could land the caller in jail.

ChelanCounty Sheriff, Brian Burnett, says the consideration to adopt such an ordinance stems from the occasional nuisance caller who repeatedly ties up RiverCom dispatchers to complain, or chat—adding that often times, alcohol is involved.

Sheriff Burnett says that ChelanCounty currently does not have a code that allows deputies to put a stop to the calls.

Sheriff Burnett expects to bring a proposed ordinance to commissioners in either May or June for adoption.
