Chelan City Plans Clean-Up 4/17/2013
As part of Earth Day- which is April 22nd- The City of Chelan Public Works Department- through the Solid Waste and Recycle Division, organizes and implements an Earth Day Clean-up Event throughout the city. This year, that effort will take place on April 26th – and organizers say that, although they have plenty of litter collectors- they are in need of some adult volunteers to help out.
Earth Day originated from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues in 1970 and is now recognized annually, world wide.
Scott Beaton, Earth Day Litter Clean Up Coordinator, says the earth day city wide clean up has been happening every year for about 18 years.
If you are interested in volunteering in the City of Chelan clean up event- call Public Works at 682-4663. The event will be held April 26th starting at 8:30 AM.
