Spring Break/Studded Tires- Drivers Beware 4/4/2013
As we head into the second half of spring break for schools in our area, as well as most of the schools in the state- the ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Office has a few friendly reminders for drivers in our area.
First, there are school aged children out and about during times of the day they are usually inside a classroom.
And for those of you out there who have not yet removed your studded tires- it’s your deadline has come and gone.
Studded tires are legal in Washington from November 1st to March 31st- which was this last Sunday.
WSDOT estimates that studded tires cause about $40 to $50 million of damage each year to Washington roads.
The abrasion on surfaces caused by studded tires wears down pavement at a much greater rate.
Driving with studded tires after March 31 could result in a $124 ticket.
