Manson Students Participate In We Day 3/27/2013
A group of MansonMiddle School students will spend the day today participating in We Day in Seattle. The event brings together 15 thousand young people to celebrate the power of youth to create positive change in their local communities.
You can’t buy a ticket to We Day- it’s earned through service and the group of students from Manson is taking part in a comprehensive service learning program called AVID.
Manson Superintendent, Matt Charlton, says the district jumped on board with the AVID program this school year, adding that AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.
Superintendent Charlton says that the students traveling to participate in We Day are in for a real treat.
We Day is part of an educational movement that participates in the We Act program offering tools and resources to schools and groups through a facilitator called Free The Children, a charity group that partners with schools to help young people achieve their fullest potential as agents of change.
