Twisp and Ok Fire 6 Nearing Agreement 3/20/2013
Four months into heated contract negotiations- it looks as if the Town of Twisp and Okanogan County Fire District 6 may be close to an agreement for fire protection services.
This is not the first time, however, that the pair has claimed to be close to an agreement- most recently a contract was verbally agreed on before the Town of Twisp revised a portion that had the fire district paying for water and sewer for the Twisp Fire Hall.
Twisp Mayor, Soo Ing-Moody, told KOZI that the Town of Twisp has since agreed to pay the $1,000 annual water and sewer service.
Barring any unforeseen changes to the contract- the final agreement will call for the Town of Twisp to pay Okanogan County Fire District 6 $35 thousand for the first year of a five year contract- that will increase each year until it reaches about $48 thousand in 2017.
District 6 Fire Commissioners meet at 7 PM the second Monday of each month- making their next meeting Monday, April 8th- at which time a fire service contract is expected to be finalized…..or not.
