Bridgeport Awards Wastewater Project Bid 1/14/2013
The City of Bridgeport officially awarded the construction bid for upgrades to their wastewater treatment plant at their meeting last week.

Eight bids were submitted for the project, and the council chose Apollo Incorporated, out of the Tri-Cities. That bid, along with the administrative service contract, will bring the project total to just more than $5.2 million.

Bridgeport Mayor, Marilyn Lynn, adds that the City has received some funding that will help soften the blow.

And what does this project mean to the pocketbooks of Bridgeport residents? Mayor Lynn tells us that it will bring an increase in sewer rates.

The proposed increase would bring the sewer portion of utility bills in Bridgeport to about $44.

The decision on the increase amount and when it would take effect will be made at the next Bridgeport City Council meeting on Wednesday, January 23rd at 7PM in council chambers.
