Detectives Sift Through Stolen Property 1/10/2013
As Chelan County Sheriff Detectives continue to sift through the more than $12 thousand in stolen property connected to several burglaries throughout ChelanCounty, officials are hoping they are able to find the rightful owners for all of it.
Chelan County North Sergeant, Rob Huddleston, says they have already come across several items that detectives believe to be stolen, but not reported- and he is asking for the public’s help.
Huddleston also encourages everyone to go through their homes and itemize all personal belongings that are of value.
Christian Merchant, 33, of Wenatchee, was arrested last Friday, after Chelan County Sheriff Deputies executed search warrants on his home and a storage unit in his name. Some of the items recovered were linked back to a burglary in Chelan on New Year’s Eve - the same night LuLu’s Boutique in downtown Chelan was burglarized, although detectives have not officially made a connection to the LuLu’s break-in.
Huddleston says detectives were able to secure a search warrant after they received a tip that someone had purchased items that were clearly marked as belonging to someone else.
Merchant was booked into Chelan County Regional Justice Center for possession of stolen property, trafficking in stolen property, two counts of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
KOZI has obtained a photo of Christian Merchant, which you can find on our website at
