First Creek/Granite Falls Residents Go Home 9/21/2012
Firefighting efforts have started to prove successful with secure fire lines and limited amount of spreading of fires at the north and east ends of the Wenatchee complex fire that previously threatened homes in the Wenatchee, Cashmere, Entiat and Chelan areas.
Elka Missal, Information Officer for the Chelan Ranger District, says the Wenatchee Complex consists of ten fires- but only four of those are close to home here in Chelan.
The area is extremely dry and conditions remain right for rapid fire growth on both existing fires as well as new fire starts. The incident Management team will continue to have initial attack responsibility for all fires within ChelanCounty, and resources will be mobilized when there is a new start.
