Chelan County PUD is expecting Lake Chelan to reach its full mark by early next week- and has already passed the August first target level of 1099 feet above sea level.
Under the terms of it’s federal license, Chelan CountyPUD must make a reasonable effort to comply with the lake level management practices as defined in the settlement agreement.
Many factors affect the lake level including precipitation, temperature, snowpack and spring run-off, but Scott Buehn, Power Resources Engineer for Chelan County PUD, says it’s a balance that requires them to estimate what’s going to happen and plan forward to manage the lake.
Lake Chelan is considered full when it reaches 1100 feet above sea level, and is listed as 5 inches below that today.
