Sheriff Heading To Stehekin Tonight 6/27/2012
The retirement of long time District Ranger Bill Fitzpatrick in Stehekin has some residents wondering about law enforcement coverage in the isolated community at the head of Lake Chelan. Those who may be concerned will have an opportunity to meet with Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett at 6 PM this evening in a question and answer formatted meeting.

Though Stehekin is about as far west as you can go and still be in ChelanCounty, it does fall firmly within the Sheriff’s jurisdiction.

North County Sergeant, Rob Huddleston says he and Sheriff Burnett, along with other representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, will be joined by officials from RiverCom Dispatch up lake today with a separate goal in mind.

For those unable to attend tonight’s 6PM meeting, the sheriff and his staff may be available to meet earlier in the afternoon in Stehekin. For those planning to attend, please contact the Sheriff at 509-667-6850, or email sheriff@co.chelan.wa.us with any topics or items of interest you would like discussed at the meeting.
