Just when you think you have the traffic revisions figured out on Johnson Avenue in front of the KOZIBuilding it changes. The “Johnson Jungle”, the name we have hung on the Pedestrian Improvement Project currently underway in downtown Chelan, will change the look and feel of Johnson Avenue forever….  today it will change your driving habits whether you want  it to or not.

 

All westbound traffic on Johnson Avenue will be detoured to Gibson this morning for about a five hour time frame.

 

Dan Baker, with the City of Chelan Public Works Department explains this mornings traffic detour.

 

The north half of  the Johnson Avenue improvements should be wrapped up by the 4th of July when crews will shift their focus to the south side of Johnson.  The entire project is scheduled to wrap up by July 20th
