Following a recommendation from WSDOT, the Chelan City Council approved an ordinance last week lowering the speed limit from 45 to 40 MPH on a two mile section of SR 150 between Manson and Chelan.

 

Traffic Engineer David Kieninger said at first DOT engineers were not in favor of lowering the speed limit.

 

Kieninger adds that drivers will see other improvements along that stretch of roadway to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.

 

The speed limit ordinance will not take effect in time for the upcoming busy holiday weekend. The ordinance takes effect on June 11- 30 days after the city council approval.
