Bridgeport Bans Candy- Then Un-Bans It 5/1/2012
The City of Bridgeport passed a resolution to ban candy in their annual Bridgeport Days Parade during their meeting in early April, and then overturned that decision during their board meeting last week.

The decision came after a large number of community members made their stance known to the council, saying regulating candy throwing would take the fun out of parades for children.

But the city's insurance company is concerned that the practice of throwing candy from vehicles could lead to someone being seriously hurt by darting into the street to pick up items from in front of a moving vehicle.

Bridgeport Mayor, Marilyn Lynn, tells KOZI News the council overturned their ban during their regular board meeting last week after coming up with a compromise that would appease those who were upset with the unpopular candy ban.

Bridgeport Days is set for June 1st through June 3rd.
