News from the Methow Ranger District 4/24/2012

The warm weather over the weekend dried one prescribed fire unit sufficiently to attempt ignition tomorrow (Wednesday April 25).  The 204-acre unit is located on Highway 20, 4 miles west of the Loup Loup Summit.  The burn boundary does not go to the highway pavement, but ends about 50 to 100 feet north of the highway.  The planned burn will be highly visible to motorists on Highway 20, and drivers should be prepared for the possibility of limited visibility especially in the evening and early morning hours.
The plan is to complete ignition on this unit in one day, but may extend into a second day of lighting if conditions require and forest managers receive smoke approval for two days of ignition.
