Cities Dropping Weekly Newspapers 4/18/2012
The City of Bridgeport has changed their newspaper of record from their local weekly paper, The Quad City Herald, to the daily Wenatchee World. The unanimous decision came during their regular council meeting last week, and is effective immediately.
Bridgeport Mayor, Marilynn Lynn says the decision was made because the city is often under a deadline that the limitations of a weekly paper can’t fulfill.
Bridgeport is not the first city to drop The Quad City Herald, a sister paper to The Lake Chelan Mirror, more than a year ago, Brewster City Council voted to forego the weekly newspaper for The Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle as their official news of record.
Bridgeport City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, making their next meeting, Wednesday, April 25th.
