The City of Chelan Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on collective garden regulations tomorrow evening at 6 PM.
The issue has been an ongoing battle for city officials, who have been sifting through complicated legal framework surrounding the legalities of medical marijuana and collective gardens.
City Planning Director, Craig Gildroy, tells us that it is legal to grow marijuana, for approved individuals.
With that in mind, Chelan City Council imposed a moratorium in October, and extended it in December, to allow them the opportunity to study the land use impact collective gardens would pose within the city limits.
Gildroy says that moratorium is up in May, and is suggesting the city adopt the state law.
If you are interested in the medical marijuana collective garden issue, you are encouraged to attend the hearing, and are also welcome to provide testimony.
That hearing will be held tomorrow evening at 6 PM at City Hall Council Chambers on Johnson Ave.
