County's Noise Ordinance Causes A Stir 3/30/2012
A rift has developed between ChelanCounty Commissioners and regional chamber organizations over a proposed noise ordinance that would impose fines of up to $500 for generating anynoise that can be heard at a distance beyond 50 feet. That would include musical instruments and singing no matter what time of day.

Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Nancy Smith agrees, adding that it the county is willing to attempt to regulate daytime noise, there is concern about what they will want to regulate next.

Chelan Chamber Director, Mike Steele, says the whole idea of creating more regulations just doesn’t make sense.

There is a public hearing scheduled on the proposed noise ordinance at the County Commissioners Chambers in Wenatchee on Monday morning. We will speak with Chelan County Commissioner Doug England by telephone on Monday morning just after 8Am prior to that meeting.
