Body Recovered from Columbia River 10/8/2010
The body of 63 year old drowning victim, Gary Rillera of Tonasket, was discovered Wednesday near Washburn Island on the Columbia River.

On Monday, Rillera was reported to have fallen into the Columbia River near Bridgeport. A search that day failed to locate him and he was presumed to have drowned.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers reports that two people driving along Highway 17 yesterday saw a small hand written sign posted along the highway. The sign, written in Spanish, stated “Dead Body, Water” with an arrow pointing towards Washburn Island.

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Brewster Fire Department responded to the scene and recovered the body.
