Fire and Rescue Promotions 9/17/2010
Chelan Fire and Rescue promoted two of its Volunteer Firefighters to Volunteer Fire Lieutenant at the Last Board of Commissioners meeting.Chris Bekel, a 3 ½ year veteran with Chelan Fire and Rescue, will assume his new role effective September 20, and will be assigned to Station 72 in Chelan Falls.In the short time Chris has been with Chelan Fire and Rescue, he has become fire combat qualified to include wild land fire fighting and is completing his requirement for Emergency Medical Technician certification in Washington State. Chris has logged in over 130 hours of volunteer service time so far this year in emergency responses and training.Nathan Smeltzer, a 5 ½ year veteran with Chelan Fire and Rescue will assume his new role effective immediately and will be assigned to Station 74 at the Chelan Airport. In his 5 ½ years with Chelan Fire and Rescue Nathan has earned his fire combat qualification including wildland fire fighting. He is working towards completing his requirement for Emergency Medical Technician certification in Washington State. Nathan has logged in over 114 hours of volunteer time so far this year. Nathan has also serves as the President of the Volunteer Firefighters’ Association for the past three years Congratulations to both Chris and Nathan.
