[12/1/16] Manson School Board Discussing M & O Levy For February Ballot

Posted in Education, Local Government & Meetings

At their meeting earlier this week, the Manson School board discussed the need for a Maintenance and Operation levy on the upcoming February 14 Special Election ballot.

Manson Superintendent, Matt Charlton says the school’s current levy will collect taxes through 2017- and the board is proposing a 2 year levy for the years 2018 and 2019.

During the boards discussions, Charlton says, two future new needs for those M & O dollars were brought to the table.

One being the schools internship program…

The other item discussed was looking into increasing compensation for teachers and educational staff…

Charlton explains that funds from the current Maintenance and Operations levy covers roughly 14% of the schools total budget- going towards a huge variety of programs…

The Manson School Board will make a formal decision on the M & O levy at the rescheduled December 12 meeting, when they will consider a resolution to roved the county with the authority to place the levy on the February Special Election ballot.
