Posted in Feature, Local Government & Meetings, WildfireTagged ,

For the first time since the Manson Fire District was formed, in 1950, Fire Commissioners are considering 2 annexations into the fire district- and will be holding a public hearing to take public comment at their next meting.

Manson Fire Chief, Arnold Baker, says those annexations include parcels in the Emerson Acres and Santana Drive areas…

Annexation is a process by which a district expands its boundaries into areas not already incorporated.

Chief Baker says these annexations stem from legislation passed two years ago regarding the use of state mobilization. The district will, and does respond to fires in these areas…

Since this is the first time the Manson Fire district has had a request for annexation, Chief Baker says, there is a lot of learning taking place…

The public hearing for public comment on the requested annexations will be held at the next Manson Fire District Commissioner meeting- scheduled for Tuesday, July 12th at 4:30 PM at the Manson Fire Hall.
