Posted in Feature, Local Government & Meetings

The Chelan City Council does not have a meeting this week- their next and final meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, December 20th. At that meeting, Chelan City Council will conduct interviews and likely appoint an interim council member to replace Mike Steele, who is tendering his resignation so he can fulfill his duties as the newly elected 12th District House Representative in Olympia.

Chelan City Administrator, Mike Jackson, explains the process…

121216 Council Replacement 1:08 “…will be another election.”

The Chelan City Council is inviting interested parties to submit a letter of interest to the Chelan City Clerk no later than 5pm this Thursday, December 15.

Applicants must be present at the Tuesday, December 20 City Council Meeting. Each candidate will have an opportunity to address council during that open public meeting.

The selection of the new City Council member will likely happen following those interviews. The candidate who is selected will take the Oath of Office at the January 10 Chelan Council meeting. They will serve until the 2017 election, at which time they will have an equal opportunity to run for the remaining two years of Mike Steele’s Council term.

The deadline for interested parties to submit applications for the soon to be vacated Chelan City Council seat is 5pm this Thursday, December 15.
