The upcoming three-day weekend traditionally signals back to school and the gradual winding down of camping season on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

Ranger District personnel expect this Labor Day weekend to be a replay of past holiday weekends on the forest.

National Forest Spokesperson, Robin Demario says, that means it will be a busy one…

090116 NF Labor Day 1 :35 “…finding a camp spot.”

And, that advice rings especially true in the Chiwawa River Drainage, near Leavenworth, with some closures from the Buck Creek Fire…

090116 NF Labor Day 2 :24 “…that buck creek fire.”

Demario adds that visitors to the national forest should also keep in mind the current campfire restrictions in place- which means, for some areas, no campfires…

090116 NF Labor Day 3 :55 “…in the national forest.”
