Our Trojans fought hard on a night were it seemed we just couldn’t get anything going. Tonasket did a good job up front and really gave our line problems all evening, holding our backfield to just 100 yards on the night.  Bo Charlton did a nice job throwing the ball going 14 for 23 for 116 yards and 2 TD’s.  Mason Walters had 5 of those receptions for 45 yards and 2 TD’s.

It was a back and forth game up to the point where Tonasket had an amazing punt return for 83 yards and a TD midway through the 3rd quarter putting the score at 17-7. From that point neither our offense or defense responded that well throwing 1 interception and allowing Tonasket to rush for 88 yards and 2 additional TD’s.

Defensively for the game Bailey Cameron led the way with 8 solo tackles, 2 first hits, and 2 assists.  Marcos Pena added 5 solo tackles in his first action of the season.  Mason Cameron had 4 solo tackles, 3 first hits, 3 assists, and 1 fumble recovery.  The fumble was caused by a hit by Bo Charlton.

Homecoming 2016 didn’t necessarily finish the way we anticipated but it was a beautiful night for football and like I told our players, the sun’s going to come up tomorrow and we are going to get back to work and continue to get better.  Once agian, our fan base was incredible.  I am not sure of the last time I have seen that many fans at a home game cheering on our team.  We very much appreciate the support! Our next game will be in Waterville, October 7th at 7:00 PM.

Wenatchee Invite

With over 15 teams with over 500 athletes including several 4a and 3a teams the Manson Trojan fought hard in all of their races. Manson brought 26 athletes to the event including a 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, JV and varsity races. Manson showed runners in all 5 races. Outstanding performances were by 7th grade Jesus Portillo, Libbey Ireland, Connor Tengesen, Jose Vasquez, just to mention a few. Jesus won the 7th grade boys race fairing off the bigger teams.

Libbey ran in the girls varsity race accelerating well as the gun sounded off at the start of the race. Holding off some of her competitors finishing in a time of 22:51.

The boys varsity was very competitive. Top finishers for the Trojans were Connor Torgesen, Jose Vaquez, Marco Valdorinos, Bryce LaMar, and Marco Mendoza.

Bringing 25 athletes including 6 6th graders is very rewarding for Manson school and enthusiasm and competitive spirits are increasing as we continue to gain more experience.

Next week Manson travels to the Chelan Invite on Tuesday and to the Leavenworth Invite on Saturday.
