Posted in Transportation

A single vehicle accident completely closed Beebe Bridge on SR 97 for 2 hours Sunday evening.

43 year old Juan Guzman-Cortez, of Brewster, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 with a box trailer south on US 97 near milemarker 235, at Beebe Bridge, when he lost control, struck the bridge guardrail, rolled and came to a rest on its side- fully blocking the roadway.

Guzman-Cortez was not injured in the accident.

There were ten passengers in his vehicle- none were injured. Only three were wearing seatbelts.

The roadway was completely closed until just before 7pm when it was opened to single lane, alternating traffic as crews worked to repair the guardrail.

The road was fully opened at 9PM.

The Washington State Patrol has listed the cause as speed too fast for conditions with charges expected.
