[12/23/15] Douglas County Deputies Arrest Burglars

Posted in Law EnforcementTagged ,

On 12/22/15 at 6:30 PM Douglas County Deputies received a report of a burglary in progress at the 600 Blk. of S. Lawler Avenue near East Wenatchee. The homeowner reported that two white males had just ran out of her garage and were running eastbound on 6th St. SE. One of the arriving Deputies was a K9 officer and began to track the suspects with his dog. Other Deputies contacted the victim and two additional witnesses who had arrived to visit with the victim. They had seen the suspects exit the garage and flee. The victim said missing items included a torch and a marijuana pipe. The K9 and handler had tracked the suspects to a residence in the 600 Blk of S. Larch. As the Deputy approached the house, one suspect fled out the back, but was apprehended by another Deputy a short distance away. The second suspect was located at the residence. Both were 14 year old East Wenatchee residents. The torch and marijuana paraphernalia were located in a bedroom belonging to one of the suspects. Further investigation revealed the two males had gone out to shovel snow in order to make money. They stole two shovels from different residences and a short time later noticed the garage door of the victim’s residence was open. The two entered and stole a torch and drug paraphernalia, but were forced to flee when the witnesses saw them leaving the garage. Deputies notified the boy’s parents of what had happened. Both suspects were transported and booked into the Chelan County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.

I commend the witnesses for being alert and the Deputies for their excellent team work in solving this case.

Very Respectfully,

Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal
