For the first time in 70-years, there is no longer a commercial float plane service on Lake Chelan….

That’s Shane Carlson, owner-operator of Chelan Seaplanes, which has been in operation on Lake Chelan, next to the Boat Company, since 2009.

Prior to that, there had been a handful of operators…

Carlson’s acquisition of the air service in 2009, included assuming a long term lease on a property owned by the Goodfellow Brothers, but that lease has come to an end…

Sunset Marina is not a new idea, it’s been around for a long time. So, we asked Carlson how could it possibly come as a shock…

120516 Chelan Seaplanes 4 :28 “….of this for sure.”

Chelan Seaplanes flew more than 5,000 passengers on scheduled flights between Chelan and Stehekin this year, but was forced to suspend 2017 air service after not being able to find a new location on such short notice….

Shane’s not ready to throw the towel in just yet, he has met with City of Chelan, and officials from the Port of Chelan County seeking a solution. And, he’s started an online petition that you can sign by visiting his website at www.chelanseaplanes.com- or on his Facebook page…
