[11/30/16] A Wenatchee Area Teen Has Died, Another Seriously Injured Trying To Cross Highway

An East Wenatchee teenager has died, and another was seriously injured after they were struck by two separate vehicles yesterday as they attempted to cross State Route 28, four miles east of East Wenatchee.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, 15-year old Alejandro Pulido and 16- year old James Delp were walking southbound on state route 28 at about 5:30 Tuesday night, before attempting to cross the busy highway.

15 year old Alejandro was struck by an eastbound ford pickup truck driven by a 22 year old female Wenatchee driver. 16 year old James was struck by a westbound Subaru driven by a 56 year old East Wenatchee man.

Neither driver was injured in the accident. Both pedestrians were transported to Confluence Health where 15 year old Alejandro was pronounced dead and 16 year old James remains in serious condition.

Washington State Patrol says no drugs or alcohol were involved.

The cause of the accident is listed as pedestrians failed to yield to traffic. No charges will be filed.
