Lightning from Wednesday’s storm set off numerous wildfires in North Central Washington…

Robin DeMario with the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest described the fire activity in an interview with Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve Hair...

Today, crews are either working on or en route to the fires that are burning mainly in or adjacent to the Naches, Wenatchee River, Entiat and Chelan Ranger Districts.

Firefighters were also busy last night in the Chelan fire district, with several reports of smoke from watchful residents.

Three of those calls turned out to be brush fires, and they were quickly knocked down.

Assistant Chief Rusty Stamps with Chelan Fire and Rescue told KOZI News what happened…

Fire Lieutenant Evan Woods said another small brush fire was reported at about 1:30 this morning in Union Valley, but a brush truck at the new fire station was able to take care of it.
